This is my Story

I  joined the U.S. Army in 1988 right out of high school as an Airborne Infantry Paratrooper (82nd Airborne). My military career provided me the opportunity to travel to 5 continents. By operating in the swamps, jungles, forests, deserts and mountains,  I gained an appreciation for the beauty of nature and life. I lived for 13 months in the African and Middle Eastern deserts including my action in the 1st Gulf War in 1991.

I have taken one college photography class but for the most part have been self taught. When you spend a lot of money on film you learn to either get better or get another hobby. I have mentored with professional photographers in my area and I am continuously taking classes and surfing  the internet for more photographic knowledge. I started with film but now exclusively use Canon digital cameras.

My day job at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office allows me the opportunity to do  documentary photography, staff photos, promotional photos- nothing to do with criminal cases, and special projects such as annual reports and publications. Off duty I work with my wife and another professional photographer shooting weddings as well as creating my own style of photographic art.  I currently live in Venice, Florida with my wife Gina and children Madison & Chase.

My photographs have been published in Books, Magazines, Newspapers and on the covers of the 2002 and 2003 Venice, Florida Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Guide as well as their website. I also maintain an online photo gallery where you may purchase prints from events that I have done. www.brett.photoreflect.com
