What type of photography can I do for you?

Photography, business cards, promotional material, photo retouching/restoration, digital art.

Do you want to make that hated family member disappear from a photograph or magically put a loved one in?  We can also selectively add color to a black & white photographs. I will travel to your house or location within the local Sarasota-Charlotte area.  The number of photos will vary depending on the type of photography work we are doing.  I include the basic retouching of the images which could involve switching heads or removing stray hair or objects.  Payment is due at the time of the photo engagement.  Payment by check or cash will be required at the time of the engagement. Obviously emergencies can happen on either your or my end and I have no problem rescheduling to meet both our schedules. Don't forget the Florida state sales tax of 7%, I do not charge sales tax I collect it.  I accept cash, check and credit cards through  the www.PayPal.com  secure website, use brettthomasphoto@msn.com as my username. You can also find your finished photographs at www.brett.photoreflect.com. This website makes it easy for family far away to view and order copies of your photographs

Why is wedding photography so expensive?
This is my explanation, but I am not always right. It's something I have to learn to live with it.
A photographer doesn't get paid to just show up and take the pictures. First he must advertise to find the customer and continuously maintain/ purchase expensive equipment as well as an office space and photographic assistants. Once the customer finds the photographer there is an initial meeting, then you sign a contract and secure a photo date. Before the photographer goes to your location he must coordinate possible logistics for the event and recheck the equipment. The smallest amount of time spent on the whole project is doing the "snappy-snappy thing" at your shin-dig. In the end he will go back to the studio and download the photos and prepare the equipment for the next event .

With digital cameras you don't just print out the magically wonderful pictures that you see at the end. The photographer also does his own digital darkroom work (this is the step that Wal-Mart does for the average consumer). You must weed out the duplicates. I will take several pictures of each pose possible because the more people you have in the picture the greater the possibility that someone will have their eyes closed. Don't laugh, you've seen it in your pictures too. There is also color correction, cropping  and inspect each image for overall quality. I include the basic retouching to ensure you of an excellent image (this is the step that Wal-Mart doesn't do for you).  This may take several more hours that you don't see.  When I have photos printed I also look at them to make sure that the lab produces the same quality image as I have in my computer. Lastly the photographer must put together the final product and meet with the client. Whew that's a lot of work. You saw the photographer one or two hours before the event itself, at your event,  and once after your event. There is twice as much work done that you never see. The photographer's prices must reflect  the behind-the-scenes work as well.

 The legal stuff.
All images taken are the intellectual and physical property of the photographer. All copyrights are reserved and will be defended vigorously to the fullest extent of the law. This means that you can not purchase only a few photographs in the hope of scanning them on your home computer and making more copies for yourself. Occasionally I will be using images I have taken for the promotion and use of my business.

Prices and the attitude of the photographer are subject to change without notice.
